Senior Internal Corrosion Technologist

The Senior Internal Corrosion Technologist should have a thorough understanding of electrochemical and corrosion principles, field testing, laboratory analysis, monitoring techniques, mitigation strategies and should be capable of comprehensive environment assessments required to develop and manage internal corrosion control programs. This person should have sufficient knowledge and experience to determine corrective action for high-level internal corrosion problems within a pipeline system and be able to implement internal corrosion integrity programs as directed. The Senior Internal Corrosion Technologist should also be able to conduct and direct all phases of ICDA.

The Senior Internal Corrosion Technologist should also possess the skills and knowledge required for the Internal Corrosion Technologist.

A candidate should have working knowledge of:

    • Assessment methods
    • Indirect methods
    • Direct methods
    • Locating internal corrosion damage
    • System evaluation strategy and techniques
    • Monitoring strategy and techniques

  • Internal Corrosion Mitigation
    • Mitigation methods
    • Selecting appropriate mitigation methods
    • Implementing mitigation methods
    • Determining effectiveness

  • Long Term Integrity Management
    • Data integration

Application Procedure

An application must be submitted prior to taking the examination only option to allow time for NACE to verify work experience requirements. If seeking certification through the parallel path option, an application may be submitted upon successful completion of the required NACE course, for verification of work experience requirements.

  • Internal Corrosion Technologist Certification
  • 4 years’ work experience in Internal Corrosion in Pipeline Environment
  • Internal Corrosion for Pipelines – Advanced (NACE Course)
  • 4- year Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering Degree
  • Successful Completion of Internal Corrosion for Pipelines-Advanced Course
