This certification is geared towards experienced personnel possessing practical knowledge over multiple areas of corrosion and its control.

This individual is capable of performing responsible work under the direction of Specialist level personnel but requiring minimal supervision.

Application Procedure

An application must be submitted prior to taking the examination-only option to allow time for NACE to verify work experience requirements.

If seeking certification through the parallel path option, an application may be submitted upon successful completion of the required NACE course for verification of work experience requirements.

Requirements for Senior Corrosion Technologist Certification

Option 1
Requirement
  • Application – Senior Corrosion Technologist
  • 8 years’ work experience, including 4 years in responsible charge
  • OR
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Science or Engineering with 4 years’ work experience in responsible charge.
  • AND
  • Successful completion of Basic Corrosion course and Exam (NACE)
  • OR
  • NACE Institute Corrosion Technician Certification
  • AND
  • Designing for Corrosion Control (NACE)
  • AND one of the following (A):
  • Successful completion of course and exam for CP Tester
  • Successful completion of course and exam for CP Technician
  • Successful completion of course and exam for CP Technologist
  • Successful completion of course and exam for CP Specialist
  • AND one of the following (B):
  • Successful completion of PCS 1 Basic Principles (NACE)
  • Successful completion of course and exam for CIP Level 1
  • Successful completion of PCS 2 Advanced
  • AND
  • One additional course from either menu A or B above or from the item listed below:
  • Coatings in Conjunction with Cathodic Protection
  • AND
  • Successful completion of Chemical Treatment Specialist Exam
  • OR
  • Successful completion of Internal Corrosion for Pipeline Basic course (NACE)
 
Option 2
Requirement
  • Application – Senior Corrosion Technologist
  • 8 years’ work experience, including 4 years in responsible charge
  • OR
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Science or Engineering with 4 years’ work experience in responsible charge.
  • NACE Institute Corrosion Technologist Certification
  • Successful completion of Designing for Corrosion Control (NACE)
  • AND one of the following (A):
  • Successful completion of course and exam for CP Tester
  • Successful completion of course and exam for CP Technician
  • Successful completion of course and exam for CP Technologist
  • Successful completion of course and exam for CP Specialist
  • AND one of the following (B):
  • Successful completion of PCS 1 Basic Principles (NACE)
  • Successful completion of course and exam for CIP Level 1
  • Successful completion of PCS 2 Advanced
  • AND
  • Successful completion of Chemical Treatment Specialist Exam
  • OR
